Iconic Comedian and Actor Martin Short to Become Funner’s Newest Mayor
Harrah’s Resort Southern California has announced that iconic comedian and actor, Martin Short, will be sworn in as Funner’s next mayor on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Succeeding past officials Jane Lynch, Rob Riggle, and David Hasselhoff, Mayor-elect Marty will serve the people of Funner for the next two years, ensuring that fun is made Funner!
Officially renamed by the Rincon Tribe on August 1, 2016, Funner stands firmly committed to promoting fun as the underlying guide for all business practices within the city limits. The city was renamed to reflect the resort’s mission to deliver unique experiences that evoke good times and laughing out loud.
As Funner’s governing body, the city council—consisting of a team of career fun-makers and led by Harrah’s Resort SoCal’s Senior Vice President and General Manager Jill Barrett—consulted with Mayor-elect Marty on his plans to elevate the fun as the city’s fourth mayor.
“As the mayor-elect of Funner, I promise to be more than just a spokesperson dressed in purple from head-to-toe, but instead, the best mayor in the whole darn state,” said Short.
“It’s my goal to make every part of the already fun Harrah’s Resort SoCal even funnier, and I can’t wait to share my plans with all of my constituents in just 6 short weeks.”
On May 13, Mayor-elect Marty will take an oath of office, be given the key to Funner, and announce his forthcoming plans for the city.
