Free Climbing At Mesa Rim North City As They Host Grandiversary
Back in the fall of 2020, Mesa Rim North City was unable to have a grand opening due to the pandemic. It opened following pandemic guidelines and with no fanfare. A planned Winter Solstice celebration in December of 2021 also had to be postponed as the virus surged once more.
Better late than never
Now, the leadership team is making up for lost time and planning to host a Mesa Rim North City Grandiversary on Saturday, October 15. San Diegans are invited to enjoy FREE climbing, food, and entertainment and to learn more about the sport.

- Test your skills during speed climbing challenges
- Chance to win prizes including an Annual Membership, Monthly memberships, climbing gear, and gift certificates for neighboring North City businesses
Mesa Rim North City Aiming To Educate And Foster The Climbing Community
Indoor rock climbing and bouldering have seen an explosion in popularity in recent years which can be attributed to the debut of Sports Climbing in the Tokyo Summer Olympics, among other trends. While the sport attracts thrill-seekers, it also offers a great workout for anyone looking to add some challenging fun to their fitness routine.
Enthusiasts praise the mind/body benefits of the climbing including increasing cardiorespiratory fitness; improving flexibility and balance; enhancing memory and problem-solving; and heightening communication skills, trust, community, and combating depression.
With three facilities in San Diego – North City/San Marcos, Mission Valley and Mira Mesa – Mesa Rim is building a fun and inclusive community around climbing, yoga, and fitness. From fitness equipment to yoga classes, cardio machines and everything climbing. Mesa Rim can help San Diegans find community and pursue new heights.

Mesa Rim is a part of the North City neighborhood – the new downtown in the City of San Marcos – and is within walking distance from all of North City’s amenities and attractions. People can enjoy an awesome workout and then explore the food (including the all new Maya’s Cookies and expanded Wynston’s Ice Cream), drinks (Newtopia Cyder and the all new Draft Republic), public art, weekly farmer’s market, and much more.
While it has been operating quietly for the past two years, the Mesa Rim team is looking forward to its “official” debut.
