Yacht Rock Floats Into Downtown for Music Box’s Anniversary Bash
Get ready to rock the boat, San Diego! The Music Box, our beloved downtown live music hotspot, is turning nine and they’re celebrating in true nautical style. India Street is transforming into a yacht rock paradise, featuring the one and only Yachtley Crew.
If you’ve been looking for an excuse to dust off that captain’s hat and slip into your boat shoes, this is it.
Imagine this—a balmy San Diego evening, the streets of downtown closed off, and the sweet sounds of 70s and 80s soft rock filling the air. That’s exactly what’s in store as Yachtley Crew, the self-proclaimed “Nation’s #1 Yacht Rock Band,” takes the stage.
These LA-based smooth operators have already sold out the Music Box eight times, so you know they’re the real deal.
But the party starts long before Yachtley Crew drops anchor. There’s plenty of time to grab a drink, check out the food trucks (hello, Bonehead Burger Co.!), and peruse the local vendor stalls. San Diego’s own Radio Thieves will kick things off, warming up the crowd with their high-energy tunes.
VIP or Not VIP? That is the Question
For those who like to party in style, VIP tickets are the way to go. You’ll get exclusive access to Music Box’s swanky third floor, a private outdoor lounge, dedicated bars, and—perhaps most importantly after a few cocktails—air-conditioned restrooms. It’s like being the captain of your own yacht, minus the seasickness.
But don’t worry if you’re sailing on a tighter budget. General admission tickets are a steal at $30, and you’ll still have full access to all the yacht rock goodness you can handle.
From Yellowstone to Yacht Rock
It’s hard to believe the Music Box has been bringing killer tunes to downtown for nine years already. Since opening their doors in 2015 with Yellowstone-famous Whiskey Myers, they’ve hosted an impressive 230 concerts a year on average.
When they’re not showcasing up-and-coming bands, they’re hosting private events with A-listers like Jennifer Hudson and Billy Idol.
See you there!
So, whether you’re a die-hard yacht rock fan or just looking for a unique way to spend a Saturday night, Music Box’s 9th-anniversary bash is the place to be. Don your best nautical whites, grab your friends, and get ready to sail into the smooth sounds of Yachtley Crew.
The nautical extravaganza is happening on September 14, with doors opening at 3 PM and Radio Thieves taking the stage at 6 PM. It’s all happening right in the heart of downtown San Diego. Don’t miss the boat on this one!
