OMBAC to Host OMSurf Classic Longboard Surfing Contest
Surf’s up, San Diego! Get ready to step back in time and catch some gnarly waves at the 30th Annual OMBAC OMSURF Classic Longboard Surfing Contest. This rad event is more than just a competition—it’s a full-on celebration of surfing’s golden era.
Wax Up Your Woodie and Head to Crystal Pier
The north side of Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach will transform into a retro surf paradise. We’re talking surfers of all ages rocking vintage longboards and channeling the spirit of ’60s surf culture.
This isn’t your average surf contest. All riders will be cruising on pre-1969 longboards, each at least 9 feet long—and here’s the kicker—no leashes allowed! It’s old school all the way, baby.
Whether you’re hanging ten or just hanging out, there’s a division for everyone. Open, Wahine, and Menehune (for the groms 16 and under) categories ensure that everyone gets a chance to show off their skills.
Want to join the action? Early birds can pre-register for $35, or if you’re more of a last-minute Lucy, you can sign up on the day for $45. Your entry fee scores you a sweet contest tee—perfect for showing off your surf cred long after the event.
Even if you’re not competing, swing by to soak up the atmosphere, cheer on the surfers, and maybe snag some rad OMBAC surfwear. Plus, you’ll be supporting a great cause—the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego.
See you there!
So wax up your board, slip on your baggies, and join us for a day of sun, surf, and serious nostalgia.
Mark your calendars for September 21, 2024. The beach check-in runs from 7 AM to 7:30 AM, with the first heat paddling out at 8:15 AM. The good vibes will keep rolling until 3:30 PM, so you’ve got plenty of time to soak up all the retro surf action at 4500 Ocean Blvd, San Diego.
