Paddle Into a Floating DJ Set at A Burn On The Bay
There are sunset paddles, and then there are sunset paddles that end with fire spinners and an effigy going up on the sand.
Paddle Boarding SD is taking everything good about the playa and dropping it on Mission Bay for one night, with lights, music, creative gear, and a group launch at twilight from Ski Beach.
The DJ Is Playing From a Pontoon Boat
The crew meets at Ski Beach to unload, inflate, decorate, and get organized before a group launch at 6:30 PM. From there, everyone paddles into a tucked-away cove where a DJ performs from a glowing pontoon boat, surrounded by a floating circle of boards, kayaks, and lights.
This is a relaxed, social paddle, not a race, and every experience level is welcome. Stay with the group, follow the lead and sweep paddlers, and keep a safe distance from the pontoon.
Fire Spinners and an Effigy Back on Shore
Once the group returns to Ski Beach, the night keeps going on land with more DJ sets, illuminated art, and fire-spinning performances. The burn happens here on the sand, inside marked boundaries, with organizers and performers running the show.
Fire programming can shift based on weather and site conditions, so watch the event discussion for updates. No open flames or personal fire props are allowed on the water.
Neon, Metallic, Desert Punk, or Whatever You Build
Come in paddle-safe burner, futuristic, illuminated, or radically creative gear, and light up your board with LEDs, glow accessories, or battery-powered art. Secure everything you attach and skip loose fabrics, sharp objects, or anything that could tangle mid-paddle.
Bring your board or kayak, paddle, leash, personal flotation device, whistle, and a white light or headlamp. Add water, a warm layer for after sunset, and a dry bag or waterproof phone case. No glass, and pack out everything you bring.

SUP Coronado Has Rentals, but Not Many
Board rentals may be available through Katie Rose and SUP Coronado, and availability is limited enough that early is the only smart move. Text 619-888-7686 to reserve one in advance.
New paddlers are welcome here. Let Katie or one of the Paddle Boarding SD organizers know it is your first nighttime group paddle so they can get you set up before the launch.
See you there!
Light up your board, pack a warm layer for the paddle back, and get to Ski Beach by six. Mission Bay looks completely different after dark.
