Resurrecting Lives Foundation Hosts Veterans Weekend Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Event At The USS Midway Museum

Resurrecting Lives Foundation is hosting a traumatic brain injury (TBI) awareness event on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum. The Veterans’ Day Weekend event will include a presentation of the first annual Think Different Awards and a private screening of the short film, Brainstorms.

Brainstorms will shine a light on the plight of TBI and give the audience a glimpse of how it is to live with the signature invisible wound war. After the screening, Julie Pacino will host a panel discussion of the film.

The Think Different Awards are designed to honor individuals who have taken extraordinary action to make a lasting impact in the lives of those with TBI. This year’s honorees include:

  • Coach Lou Hotlz
  • Military Psychologist and Author, Heidi Kraft, Ph.D
  • Vernon Davis – Longhorn the Comedian
  • Dan Carcillo, CEO of Wesana Health

Helping our veterans heal

The consequences of an untreated or under-treated traumatic brain injury are swift and unforgiving and include: substance abuse, unemployment, homelessness, incarceration, and suicide. The military recently released new statistics that the deaths by suicide have outnumbered the deaths by combat by a staggering ratio of 4:1.

Over 750,000 veterans are currently struggling with TBI. Through bringing awareness, education and research to the issue of TBI, Resurrecting Lives Foundation is helping our veterans heal.

Resurrecting Lives Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to increasing awareness for the necessity of swift diagnosis and treatment for TBI. It is only by a collaboration with the military and the civilian medical communities that we can give our veterans a future that they deserve, with proper health care, employment, and education. The event on November 14 is an opportunity to move brain care forward for our veterans.
