SD Fight Night Launches at Frontwave Arena With Julius Ballo and Jonny Mansour Headlining

San Diego boxing fans, this one’s for us.

Two of our own – cousins Julius Ballo and Jonny Mansour – are stepping into the spotlight to headline the inaugural SD Fight Night: Family Business at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside. The event marks the launch of a new boxing series designed to bring consistent, high-level professional boxing back to San Diego.

And it all starts with family.

SD Fight Night

A Homecoming for Two Rising Stars

Ballo and Mansour have showcased their skills across the globe, but this time they’re fighting on home turf.

For Ballo, the night carries extra meaning. Introduced to boxing by his father, Yasir “Jack” Ballo, he built an impressive amateur career that includes a Youth Pan American Games gold medal, three USA Boxing national championships, and a 2024 National Golden Gloves title. After narrowly missing the opportunity to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games, he turned professional in 2025.

He made his pro debut at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in July 2025, sweeping the scorecards. He followed it up with a six-round victory in Los Angeles in December, quickly catching the attention of the boxing world.

Now, he gets to headline in front of his hometown crowd.

From Team USA to Center Stage

Mansour’s journey is just as compelling. The 25-year-old lightweight, born and raised in San Diego, is undefeated through six professional bouts, including two knockouts, since turning pro in 2024.

A Granite Hills High School alum who now lives in La Mesa, Mansour started boxing at just eight years old. He racked up more than 140 amateur wins, became the top-ranked lightweight for Team USA, and served as an Olympic alternate during the 2020 Olympic cycle.

He’s also a National Golden Gloves Champion and represented the U.S. internationally – all while studying business and finance at San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business.

Known for his speed, ring IQ, and growing power, Mansour enters SD Fight Night as one of the rising names to watch in American boxing.

Building a New Boxing Tradition in San Diego

Co-promoted by Frontwave Arena and G2G Promotions, SD Fight Night is launching as a recurring series aimed at reestablishing San Diego as a true boxing hub.

Frontwave Arena, which opened in September 2024, has quickly become a go-to venue for sports and entertainment in North County. With this new partnership, the arena is positioning itself as a home for professional boxing in Southern California – creating a platform where fighters can build their careers and fans can experience the sport up close.

For longtime boxing fans and newcomers alike, this inaugural event feels like the start of something bigger for our local fight scene.

See you there!

We’re ready for a packed arena, hometown pride, and a night that puts San Diego boxing front and center. Oceanside is about to feel electric.
