San Diego Opera Unveils Its 2026/2027 Season Lineup

If you’ve been looking for a reason to plan a few cultured nights out, this is it. San Diego Opera just announced its 2026/2027 season, and it’s shaping up to be a seriously strong lineup with a little bit of everything – drama, romance, humor, and those big, goosebump-inducing vocal moments we go to the opera for.

What we love about this season is the mix. There’s a thoughtful balance of contemporary storytelling and iconic classics, making it just as exciting for longtime opera fans as it is for anyone who’s been opera-curious but hasn’t booked that first ticket yet.

Rigoletto on Stage at San DIego Opera

A Season of Standout Productions

The new season features four productions, each with three performances:

  • Fellow Travelers
  • Rigoletto
  • Susannah
  • The Marriage of Figaro

From the emotional pull of Fellow Travelers to the timeless charm of The Marriage of Figaro, the range here is solid. It’s the kind of lineup that lets you experience opera’s intensity one month and its wit and elegance the next.

Returning Talent and Exciting Debuts

One highlight we’re excited about? Tenor Andy Acosta, a San Diego local, returning to reprise the role of Timothy Laughlin in Fellow Travelers. We love seeing hometown talent on stage.

Along with returning artists, the season brings in new voices making their company debuts, which always adds an extra layer of anticipation. And of course, the collaboration with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra continues, delivering that rich, full orchestral sound that makes a night at the opera feel immersive from the first note.

Opera Thriving in San Diego

Opera continues to hold its place in San Diego’s cultural scene, and seasons like this are a reminder of why. Whether you’re dressing up for a full evening downtown or making it part of a dinner-and-show night, it’s one of those experiences that feels both elevated and surprisingly accessible.

Subscriptions for the 2026/2027 season are about to open, with single tickets available later in the year.

See you there!

We’re already planning a few evenings at the opera. From bold premieres to iconic favorites, it’s shaping up to be a beautiful season of music in San Diego.
