Fairmont Grand Del Mar Launches Equestrian Program
Attention horse-lovers! The Fairmont Grand Del Mar recently opened their equestrian program to guests!
The iconic resort offers daily riding and non-riding activities catering to riders of all ages and experience levels, and is available to both resort guests and the greater San Diego community.
Suffice it to say, as one of only 14 properties in the world to earn the prestigious Triple Five-Star award from Forbes Travel Guide, the equestrian experience at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is sure to be a memorable experience!

“The return of equestrian is major milestone for the Resort and one that we are extremely excited to offer to both resort guests as well as the greater San Diego community,” said Kyra Bradley, Director of Resort Experience and Wellbeing at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. “Equestrian is the latest wellness offering that invites our guests to explore the outdoors and the natural beauty of our unique setting. In the coming months, we will look forward to debuting even more equestrian programs.”
Multiple riding experiences available
With more than 37 miles of riding trails, world-class trainers, top instructors and a stable of friendly horses, The Grand offers multiple riding experiences, ensuring everyone has a memorable time.
Daily guided rides will take guests on one-hour trail tours through the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, providing ample opportunities to capture the breathtaking views and local wildlife.
For those individuals looking to learn riding basics or work on perfecting their jumps, lessons are available with the stable’s team of expert instructors. Riders and non-riders alike are always invited visit the equestrian center during designated feeding hours to meet the horses and help feed them a snack.
The Grand’s youngest guests will receive a special note from one of the horses on property inviting them to visit the stables during their stay.

The Grand has a variety of beautiful horses with different backgrounds and personalities to ensure you find the right companion for your experience:
Poncho aka the trail master: a Warmblood/paint gelding from California who is often a guide horse and a natural leader among the team.
Cody aka The X-Race Horse: a Thoroughbred gelding from Kentucky with an impressive track career and kind soul, perfect for younger riders.
Trooper aka Mr. Personality: an American Quarter Horse gelding from Nevada who loves interacting with the other horses and being playful.
Ghost aka The Unicorn: a Paso Fino gelding whose rare coloring makes him stand out in the crowd.
Penny aka The Boss Lady: a pony and only mare of the group, she is very intelligent and keeps order in the team.
Showman aka Showmaster: a Swedish Warmblood gelding from Europe who was previously a successful show jumper.
Shadow: a Dutch Warmblood gelding and retired show horse, he is as sweet as can be and will do anything for his riders.
Iceman: a Swedish Warmblood gelding and retired show horse, Iceman is a beautiful horse with lovely gaits making him a pleasure to ride.
