Close Out Summer in Style at Fairmont Grand Del Mar

Summer doesn’t end all at once here. It winds down over five weeks of long dinners, live music on the lawn, and evenings that start at golden hour and don’t rush anywhere after that.

Fairmont Grand Del Mar has nine reasons to make the drive, running from Alice in Wonderland tea service to a wine dinner honoring the bottle that beat France.

The resort’s outdoor lounge and concert venue closes its summer series with four more nights of local musicians across jazz, pop, salsa, blues, and classic rock. Wood-fired dishes, cocktails, and lawn games run alongside.

The closing run brings 90’s Hits with Perry O’Neal, Red, White and Brews rock ‘n’ roll with Lauren Leigh, Sunset Sessions with DJ Chris Cantore, and Americana with Jesse Ray Smith.

Mad Hatter’s Tea

Wonderland takes over the Lobby Lounge for afternoon tea, with Alice appearing throughout and a pianist working through melodies from the film. The Library screens the movie in the background.

The Carlsbad bar takes over for one night only, courtesy of Mike Mayaudon and Shawn Seaman, the pair also behind Same Same in Carlsbad and Good Enough in Little Italy.

Expect their inventive cocktails and laid back Southern California style, poured just for this evening. No reservations needed.

Chateau Montelena Judgment of Paris 50th Anniversary Dinner

It’s been 50 years since the Judgment of Paris, where Chateau Montelena‘s Chardonnay bested France’s best. Ernie Hahn and the Hahn family, who helped revive the winery, host this one.

Chef Mawa McQueen and Executive Chef Bryn McArthur pair each course with Chateau Montelena selections. It’s part of the Del Mar Wine + Food Festival.
