Celebrate Earth Month With Nature Collective’s Free Events in San Elijo Lagoon

This April, the Nature Collective events calendar is packed with opportunities to get outside and connect with the wild beauty of San Diego’s coastline.

Hosted by the San Diego nonprofit known for its hands-on conservation and community education work, these four free events offer something for everyone—from family outings to restorative volunteering.

Discovery Tour (Ages 9+)

Explore the accessible trails of San Elijo Lagoon on a guided Discovery Tour that blends environmental education with awe-inspiring scenery. Get to know native plants and migratory birds as you move through this dynamic coastal ecosystem.

Family Fun Day (Best for ages 9 and under)

Perfect for younger nature lovers, this playful morning features pollinator-themed crafts and fun facts about lagoon wildlife. Join rangers and ambassadors for a morning that’s as educational as it is entertaining.

April 19: Queer Roots Habitat Restoration Day

Open to everyone, this 2SLGBTQ+ focused event brings together community, restoration work, and a celebration of Earth Week. Expect habitat planting, storytelling circles, and a shared mission of healing and inclusion.
