Your Guide To This Week’s North County Concerts

Haven’t figured out your New Year’s Eve plans? Don’t worry—you’re not out of luck yet. Just for you, we’ve compiled the best North County concerts not just for NYE but for the entire weekend. Welcome the new year with what you really love: good tunes.

Lisa Sanders and Brown Sugar & Dave Dersham – 12/29

Brick 15

Del Mar, CA

Lisa Sanders and Brown Sugar know country and blues—after all, Sanders was a third-place-Telluride Bluegrass Festival New Folk winner. The duo’s 8th CD release entitled Shiver was nominated for the San Diego Music Awards’ Best Pop Album.

Dave Dersham made it as a finalist in West Virginia’s Mountain Stage emerging artist competition and doesn’t let his world travels compromise his Americana.

Adrienne Nims – 12/30

Witch Creek Winery

Carlsbad, CA

Looking for something a little off-the-beaten-path? Check out the wind stylings of Adrienne Nims. Spanning everything from Jazz to Celtic, Nims provides an eclectic look at what wind instruments can do.

NYE Party with Gone Blonde – 12/31

The Pour House

Oceanside, CA

Is it true that gentlemen prefer blondes? Find out if blondes really do have more fun at the Pour House’s New Year’s Eve bash.

Gone Blonde plays a mix of your favorite hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and today. Where else can you hear “99 Red Balloons” and Daft Punk?

They’ll play the tunes that will make you groove all the way to 2017.

NYE Masquerade with UpFunk – 12/31

Mr. Peabody’s Bar and Grill

Encinitas, CA

Why not bring in the new year with some good ol’ funk?

UpFunk, a frequent act at Peabody’s, plays music with the idea that “it’s [their] sacred duty to shake your bootie.”

What better way to shake off a disturbing and not-so-pleasant year than with some feel-good funk from your friendly, neighborhood funk band?

The White Buffalo – 1/1

The Belly Up

Solana Beach, CA

If the White Buffalo, a.k.a. Jake Smith sounds familiar, it may be that you heard his music on the show Sons of Anarchy. His music was nominated for an Emmy, but you don’t need visuals to appreciate the vivid pictures Smith paints with his raw baritone.

His latest album Shadows, Greys and Evil Ways developed into a concept album detailing the relationship of Joe and Jolene, thrust together into a saga you’ll just have to hear to believe.
