Dual Concept Harumama And Blue Ocean Sushi Now Open In La Jolla
The dual concept of Harumama and Blue Ocean Sushi is now open in La Jolla, bringing the best buns in town and fresh sushi under one roof!
Situated above La Jolla Cove with beautiful views of the ocean, the restaurants now occupy what used to be The Hake. The 5,783 square foot space is split between the two restaurants, with Harumama in the front and Blue Ocean Sushi appropriately located oceanfront, towards the back of the restaurant.
The two restaurants were created by local restaurateurs, Jenny and James Pyo, who own and operate Love Boat Sushi, Pokewan, Blue Ocean Robata and Sushi Bar (Carlsbad) and the two other locations of Harumama in Little Italy and Carlsbad.
Harumama
Harumama offers playful takes on Asian fare with inspiration from Chinese, Japanese and Korean cuisines. Seating 58 guests, the new restaurant will offer the cult favorite and Insta-worthy character steamed buns featuring cartoon-y pandas, chickens and seasonal characters in flavors like chicken, pork, mushroom and purple sweet potato. The menu will be similar to the ones in Little Italy and Carlsbad offering a contemporary twist on traditional ramen, noodles, buns and more.
Blue Ocean Sushi
Originating in Carlsbad, Blue Ocean Sushi offers an expansive menu featuring items that highlight the fresh flavors of the ocean. Where the Carlsbad location focuses on Robata style cooking, the new La Jolla restaurant serves a wide variety of sushi and sashimi. Items that are unique to the La Jolla location include Scallops with black rice risotto, Ribeye Steak, Port Wine Crispy Duck Breast and Campfire Pineapple with beef, shrimp, quail egg, pineapple and vegetables wok-seared in pineapple sauce. Blue Ocean Sushi in La Jolla seats approximately 90 guests.
Harumama and Blue Ocean Sushi are open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Lunch Specials will be served 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. daily along with Happy Hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
See you there!
