Jefferson Pacific Beach Hosts First Annual Food Drive
Jefferson Pacific Beach is hosting a drop-off and virtual food drive now through Monday, Sept. 28. San Diego residents can stop by the apartment complex—conveniently located directly off Interstate 5—to donate canned goods and non-perishables. Virtual donations will also be accepted during the duration of the food drive.
450,000 food insecure…177,000 children
According to the Food Bank, 450,000 of San Diego County’s 3.2 million residents face food insecurity. Of this number, 177,000 are children. Food insecurity means that little or no food is available at home, and those who are food insecure do not know how they will get their next meal.
“Our goal is to create awareness about food insecurity in San Diego, and offer our neighbors in Pacific Beach with an easy and accessible way to give back to the wider community,” said Rosie Cooper, Regional Managing Partner of Jefferson Pacific Beach. “As we are all aware, providing extra support to those in need is especially important right now and through 2021. We invite all Pacific Beach residents, businesses and visitors to stop by and donate.”
All donations from the food drive will be donated to The Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank. Most needed food items include canned chicken and tuna, canned beans, cereal, rice, nuts, peanut butter, canned soup, canned and dried fruit, canned vegetables, powdered milk, and infant formula. Glass jars and homemade food products will not be accepted.
Additionally, the virtual food drive will allow donors to easily select and purchase food items securely online to donate to the Food Bank. Jefferson Pacific Beach has set a goal of donating $5,000 worth of food to the Food Bank.
Donations will be accepted at Jefferson Pacific Beach from Monday, Sept. 14 through Monday, Sept. 28, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Jefferson Pacific Beach is located at 4275 Mission Bay Drive San Diego, CA 92109.
