LEGOLAND California’s New LEGO Galaxy Opens With a Custom Rollercoaster Experience

LEGOLAND California just gave us a sneak peek at their most ambitious project yet, and it’s sending families straight to the stars. LEGO Galaxy represents a $90 million investment and the park’s first new rollercoaster in over two decades.

The space-themed land combines customizable rides, hands-on building zones, and cosmic dining experiences designed for the whole family.

Design Your Own Spacecraft and Ride It

The centerpiece attraction, Galacticoaster, lets you create your dream spacecraft before boarding. At digital Customization Bays, riders select everything from nose cones to tail fins, plus quirky special features like disco balls or balloons.

With more than 625 unique combinations possible, you’d need to visit nearly every day for two years to experience them all. An RFID wristband lets you see yourself riding in your custom creation as you speed through twists and turns at up to 40 mph.

The experience includes interactive pre-shows and a briefing from Biff Dipper, the park’s first robotic minifigure, before launching into scenes featuring LEGO Space sets spanning past, present, and future.

Adventures for Every Age

G-Force Test Facility puts families through the motions of actual astronaut training, swinging and tilting through simulated space forces.

Younger explorers get their own dedicated experiences with DUPLO Launch and Land, a flight simulator scaled for toddlers, and the Junior Astronaut Training Zone, where little ones can play at their own pace.

The Rocket Assembly Bay takes building beyond the physical world by letting you construct LEGO rockets, then digitally scan and blast them into cyberspace.

Cosmic Food and Exclusive Merchandise

U.F.O. (Ultimate Food Outlet) serves space-inspired dishes like Nebula Noodles and Stellar Crusts, while Stardust Sips & Sweets handles the dessert mission. Satellite Bites offers quick fuel-ups between adventures. The Orbital Outpost stocks exclusive LEGO Galaxy merchandise so families can bring home a piece of their space mission.

Built on LEGOLAND History

The Merlin Magic Making team wove the park’s heritage throughout the new land. The Dragon Trees landscaping LEGO Galaxy are original LEGOLAND California trees, carefully preserved and replanted for the opening.

Spaceport 886, which houses Galacticoaster, pays tribute to the 1970s LEGO Set 886 Space Buggy that defined the classic Spaceport theme.

LEGOLAND Galaxy Biff Dipper

Become a Junior Galaxy Explorer

Kids ages 6-12 can enter to become Junior Galaxy Explorers by designing their own LEGO spacecraft at select children’s museums or online. Winners ride Galacticoaster first, score a two-night LEGOLAND Hotel stay during opening weekend, receive four annual passes, and take home a commemorative build.

In-person contests happen at Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, the Children’s Creativity Museum in San Francisco, and the Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena.

See you there!

Kids’ tickets start at just $39 right now, and hotel packages include up to 30% off rooms when you book your Galaxy adventure.
