May 20th ‘Lights On North Park’ A Celebration Of The Neighborhood’s Local Business

North Park Main Street invites the local community to join in for ‘Lights on North Park’, a visual gesture of unity and support for the neighborhood’s 1,000 restaurant, retail, entertainment and service-oriented businesses, after a time of unprecedented challenges.

North Park business owners, community members, and visitors alike are welcome to participate in the high-energy sunset ceremony, by briefly lighting up the cross-section of “30th and University” (just steps from the iconic North Park sign) with the soft glow of raised cell phone lights. Ribbons will also be handed out, to be held as a symbol of the North Park community’s solidarity with local businesses. More than one hundred participants are expected, culminating in a dynamic display of lights.

All are welcome!

The more the merrier!

The evening will also feature local visual collage artist, Steve Haney, of Vision Collage Art and live music courtesy of DJ Beau Lamontagne aka Monsieur Turbeau.

Participants are encouraged to make it a night out in North Park— before the happening, stroll the weekly North Park Farmers’ Market (3 to 7:30PM) to shop for organic produce from local farms, artisan foods, and handmade products. And linger afterward to enjoy the many dine and drink options.

About North Park

San Diego’s “coolest neighborhood,” just north of Balboa Park, exudes the perfect mix of hip, up-and-coming neighborhood and tight-knit community. It’s a go-to destination and hub for new, inventive dining and drink, shopping (everything from well-curated boutiques to vintage finds and local makers) and plenty of activities to explore.

The weekly North Park Farmers’ Market offers a diverse mix that includes organic produce from local farms, entertainment, and shopping.

About North Park Mainstreet

North Park Main Street is both a business improvement district established by the City of San Diego, and a Main Street program affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. As a volunteer-based, 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, North Park Main Street (NPMS) advocates for North Park’s business community, administers the North Park Business Improvement District (BID), and champions development that preserves the community’s historic integrity, supports its Arts, Culture & Entertainment District, and promotes an urban,
pedestrian-friendly shopping/dining environment.

See you there….and stay healthy, San Diego!
