Lyft & Fashion Valley Launch Rideshare Program, Designated Lyft Zones Throughout

Lyft San Diego has teamed up with Fashion Valley to launch a rideshare program that offers sustainable and affordable transportation as well as convenient drop-off and pick-up locations at the region’s busiest shopping destination.

The program establishes Lyft Zones, seamless pick-up/drop-off locations throughout the mall, as well as enhances the ridesharing app, including special discount offers and preferred location finders. It will also help Lyft drivers by giving them more specific and less congested areas to connect with riders.

Committed to Sustainability

Lyft’s commitment to sustainability is well-recognized, as one of the top 10 voluntary purchases of carbon offsets in the world. The organization ensures all rides are carbon neutral to fight climate change. The transportation network also remains committed to shared rides, putting more people in fewer cars and continuing to reduce dependency on personal vehicles.

“Transportation can be a challenge when it comes to shopping at busy malls,” said Lyft San Diego Market Manager Hao Meng. “The introduction of Lyft Zones at Fashion Valley Mall will offer shoppers a seamless door-to-door solution that enhances their overall ridesharing experience.”

There are six strategically placed and well-marked designated pick-up and drop-off Lyft Zones throughout Fashion Valley, including: Verizon Wireless, Nordstrom eBar, and So Sushi off Friars Road; JC Penney off Fashion Valley Road; and AMC Theatre and Forever 21 on the south side near Riverwalk Drive.

“We’re committed to bringing customer-focused amenities to Fashion Valley and this Lyft partnership is another example of how we are improving the retail experience,” said Arianne Cousin, director of Marketing Fashion Valley. “Ridesharing is in great demand, and we’re excited to offer this convenience to locals and tourists who want to visit our popular shopping center.”

The Fashion Valley rideshare amenity is one of the many programs initiated locally by Lyft to improve the overall efficiency of the region’s roads and working toward a future with cities built around people, not personal cars. Last month, Lyft San Diego rolled out a year-long road safety and sustainability campaign that includes working with nonprofit organizations to promote reliable and accessible public transportation, active transportation and smart growth.
