Madi Is Now Open For Daily Brunch In Normal Heights

Madison on Park’s little sister restaurant, Madi, is now open in San Diego’s Normal Heights neighborhood!

Madi serves brunch seven days a week, featuring an all-day menu of breakfast and lunch, mimosas and wine, and a grab-n-go coffee and pastry counter.

Like your bestie’s house, Madi is a place to visit for any and every occasion, and each experience is exactly what you need it to be: a buzzy weekend brunch with bubbles, a morning breakfast meeting, a quick mid-week lunch, or a leisurely meal on the patio over a glass of wine…or three.

Madi brunch features a 60-year-old pancake recipe

Rooted in vibrant and fresh California cuisine, the menu puts a playful Mediterranean twist on west coast ingredients, creating an inventive brunch experience that offers the best of both worlds: balanced sensibilities and sweet and savory indulgences.

Divided into Shares, Lunchy Stuff, Griddle Game (featuring a 60-year-old pancake recipe), Build Your Own Bowl, and Madi Faves, the menu is designed to dine multiple times per week, lighter on some days and more indulgent on others.

Vibrant, playful, colorful

Madi floor to ceiling window

Madi was designed by husband-and-wife duo Dave and Anna Sindelar of ARCHISECTS, the team behind the award-winning design of Madison on Park. While Madison’s aesthetic is moody and sophisticated mid-century modern, little sister, Madi, nods to the vibrant, playful, and colorful postmodern retro revival of the late 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Madi’s white stucco exterior includes floor-to-ceiling windows, framed in green and blue and accented by the building’s original stained glass windows. Accordion-style glass doors open onto the sidewalk, flooding the dining room with San Diego sunshine and warm breezes, creating a light and airy feel made for daytime brunching.

Madi patio seating

The corner space includes an outdoor patio for 30, that faces the Kensington neighborhood and is lush with hanging plants for an indoor-outdoor vibe. The interior of the 2,000 square foot space is wrapped with vertical wood slats and the same intricate wood joinery used to build the sky-high arched walls at Madison.

The dining room seats 60 and features built-in sage-colored banquettes, a walk-up coffee bar, and diner-style counter seating. A color palette of peach, clay, muted green and natural wood is happily interrupted by four ceiling-height pillars designed into abstract expressionist sculptures that function both as a wall and art in the space.

The Madi Team

Matthew Sieve

The Madi team includes Jeffrey Fink (owner of Madison on Park, M-Theory), Matthew Sieve (partner and operator of Madison on Park), and general manager, Trish Rowley, who alongside Fink and Sieve opened Madison as assistant general manager, and previously worked with Sieve at Isabel’s Cantina.

Trish Rowley

Just as he did for Madison’s brunch menu, Sieve, who is a third-generation restaurateur (his family owns and operates a 100-year-old breakfast restaurant in Minnesota), created the Madi brunch menu. Having previously cooked at Madison, and brunch at Encontro and Shorehouse, Chef Tomas Felix joins the team as head chef and will execute the menu and lead the kitchen operations.

At Madi, Madison regulars will recognize many of their favorite Madison staffers, longtime servers, bussers, and cooks, who will split their time between the locations, adding to the neighborhood feel of the space.
