Downtown El Cajon’s Free Friday Concert Series is Back for the Summer

Music on Main is back at Prescott Promenade in Downtown El Cajon, and this year it’s bigger than ever. Formerly known as the Dinner and A Concert Series, the weekly event has been rebranded and expanded with a wider variety of artists and genres.

Rock, country, jazz, and Latin music fill the Promenade every Friday evening from June through August – all free and open to the community.

Six Acts Worth Showing Up For

The June and July lineup leans heavily into tribute acts and local favorites – and that’s not a bad thing. From classic rock to soul, there’s a different flavor every Friday night:

  • Heart of Rock and Roll – A Huey Lewis tribute act kicking off the summer series
  • Ronstadt Revival – A celebration of the iconic Linda Ronstadt
  • Journeymen – Bringing the sounds of Journey to Prescott Promenade
  • Half Shot – Local favorites taking the stage for a mid-summer Friday
  • Jimmy’s Buffet – A Jimmy Buffett tribute perfect for a warm summer evening
  • Whitney Shay – One of San Diego’s most celebrated blues and soul vocalists

With more acts to be announced through August, there are plenty of Friday nights still to fill in on the calendar.

The Best Way to Experience Music on Main

Arrive early and grab a bite from one of the nearby restaurants and cafés before the music starts – Downtown El Cajon has a solid dining scene worth exploring. ‘

Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for a relaxed evening under the stars, and plan to stay for the full set. It’s the kind of night that makes summer in San Diego feel exactly right.
