North Park Nabs Spot on Travel Mag’s Coolest Neighborhoods List!

Guess what? Our very own North Park just scored some major bragging rights! Travel Mag just dropped their list of the 16 Most Up-and-Coming Neighborhoods in the U.S., and yep, you guessed it—North Park made the cut!

Now, for those of us who’ve been hanging out in North Park for years, this isn’t exactly breaking news. We’ve always known this hood is something special. But it’s pretty sweet to see the rest of the country catching on to what we’ve been loving all along.

Recognizing North Park’s Unique Charm

Travel Mag’s giving North Park props for its killer mix of old-school charm and modern vibes. They’re all about our booming arts scene (hello, mural walks!), our drool-worthy food spots, and how we’re keeping things green. It’s like they peeked into our weekend plans or something!

Speaking of food, they gave shoutouts to some of our favorite spots. Mabel’s Gone Fishing got a nod (and let’s be real, their seafood is to die for), along with The Smoking Goat (date night, anyone?) and City Tacos (because who doesn’t love a good taco Tuesday… or any day?).

But it’s not just about the eats. They’re also feeling the love for Verbatim Books (our go-to for that new book smell), our awesome North Park Mural Guide (perfect for those Instagram-worthy walks), and The Observatory (because seeing a show in a theater from 1939 is just cool, period).

Mark West from North Park Main Street is pretty stoked about the recognition, saying it shows how much heart our community has. And he’s not wrong—North Park’s got a vibe that’s all its own, and it’s awesome to see that getting noticed.

So next time you’re sipping on a craft beer at one of our local breweries or checking out a new gallery opening, give yourself a pat on the back. You’re part of what makes North Park one of the coolest neighborhoods around.

Let’s keep that energy going and show the rest of the country what San Diego‘s all about!

Congratulations, North Park!
