Cheer on the Oceanside Shock at Frontwave Arena This Fall

North County is getting a pro hockey team, and their mascot is a jellyfish. An extremely determined jellyfish. Gripping a hockey stick.

Frontwave Arena just unveiled the name, logo, and inaugural roster for Oceanside’s first professional hockey team: the Oceanside Shock. They’re playing in the Federal Prospects Hockey League, they’ve got a full home schedule running from October through April, and tickets are on sale right now.

The Jellyfish That North County Voted For

The name came straight from the community. Frontwave Arena ran a three-month “Name the Team” campaign, collected suggestions from across North County, and landed on the Shock – complete with a mascot that’s equal parts coastal and completely unexpected. It fits.

The FPHL is entering its 17th season this year as one of North America’s top developmental hockey leagues, and Oceanside is officially on the map.

Five Defensemen, Seven Forwards, and a Coach Who Means Business

Head coach Craig Carlyle is building the roster to win from day one. On defense: Cade Hanley, Michael Greco, Lester Brown, Timofei Trifonov, and Matt O’Dea.

Up front: Cole Crowder, Justin Jamer, Maximus Marek Tortorella, Bryan Gowin, Tyler Maxwell, James Spaargaren, and Dyson Germann. The mix of professional experience and emerging talent is intentional, and Frontwave’s new permanent ice facility signals this isn’t a one-season experiment.

October 10 is the One to Circle

The home opener is October 10 against the Fresno Falcons – the first professional hockey game ever played in Oceanside. From there, the schedule runs through April 2027, with home matchups against the Stockton Thunder, Minnesota Northern Lights, Topeka Scarecrows, Motor City Rockers, Twin City Thunderbirds, and Port Huron Prowlers.

Plenty of chances to go, but being there on night one is its own thing.

See you there!

There’s a new pro team in North County and you should absolutely be at the home opener. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now.
