Twenty-Nine Years of Who-ville and Counting

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! keeps coming back because San Diego keeps showing up for it – and year twenty-nine is no different.

The Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage becomes a full snow-covered Who-ville, right down to the last can of Who-hash, and the songs hit the way they always do. “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” “Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze).” You already know the words. Bring the kids, bring the parents, bring anyone who could use a reminder that the holidays are actually great.

The Same Story, Now in Spanish – and Only for Four Nights

¡Cómo el Grinch robó la Navidad! is the same show on the same stage, adapted into Spanish by Katya María Ojeda Iturbide and Luis Gerardo Villegas, and it runs for four nights only. That’s it. If this one is on your list, don’t sit on it. One note for families: everyone three and up needs their own ticket, and under-threes aren’t admitted.

Scrooge Gets a San Diego Makeover and It’s an Hour and Fifteen Minutes

Ebenezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show keeps all the classic A Christmas Carol pieces – yes, all three ghosts – and drops the whole thing into “wintery” San Diego with a comic local twist.
