Pacific Beach Nonprofits Launch New Summer Camp for Young Creatives

Pacific Beach has always had a strong creative current running through it, and this summer, two local nonprofits are putting that energy to work for the next generation. The Music Company (TMC) and the Pacific Beach Arts Center have partnered to launch SoundLab – a week-long music production camp for teens ages 12 to 18.

The Music Company

Hands-On from Day One

Working in small groups with TMC’s team, campers use professional-grade studio tools to produce an original music track and short video, covering recording, editing, shooting, and post-production along the way.

By the end of the week, they’ll understand how sound is captured and digitized, how to navigate digital audio equipment and software, and how to take a creative idea all the way to a finished project.

Two Organizations, One Goal

TMC has been building San Diego’s music community from the ground up since 2023, offering affordable studio access and educational programming for musicians, producers, DJs, and engineers.

The Pacific Beach Arts Center, a project of Beautiful PB, is working to transform the former Pacific Beach Library site on Ingraham St. into PB Arts Commons – a hub for classes, performances, and creative collaboration. SoundLab is exactly the kind of programming both organizations were built for.

Three Sessions This Summer

At $350 per session, SoundLab runs three separate week-long sessions, giving families flexibility to find the right fit.

  • Session 1: Monday, June 15 – Friday, June 19
  • Session 2: Monday, July 13 – Friday, July 17
  • Session 3: Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 7
