Pacific Catch Makes Its Southern California Debut In San Diego

Pacific Catch, the Bay Area-based fish house known for serving sustainable seafood with Pacific Rim flavors in a decidedly West Coast style, officially opens its first Southern California location in San Diego on October 18th. For nearly two decades, Northern California diners have turned to the fish house for its constantly evolving menu of high-quality seafood and now, San Diegans can experience its “wave to table” offerings, Pacific inspired menu, and craft beverage program for the first time.

Located within the upcoming revamp of La Jolla’s Westfield UTC Mall, the 12th Pacific Catch location is the newest, Pacific-inspired dining destination in the region. With plans to expand throughout Southern California on the horizon, the Pacific Catch team chose San Diego as the location to debut the beloved Bay Area fish house due to the city’s unparalleled, year-round endless summer vibe.

“The Bay Area has been home to us for the past 18 years and now, we are thrilled to be making our official Southern California debut in San Diego and introducing the community to our interpretation of a West Coast fish house,” shared Keith Cox, founder & CEO of Pacific Catch.

“While San Diego’s consistently great weather was an obvious draw when deciding where to open our first restaurant in Southern California, we believe our company values, such as our sincere focus on sustainability and emphasis on using fresh and high-quality ingredients, will resonate with our new community.”

Eat + Drink

Pacific Catch’s San Deigo location will serve the Bay Area core menu, which offers seasonally driven dishes that
celebrate the diverse flavors and ingredients found around the Pacific Rim. Served with Aloha-inspired hospitality, signature Pacific Catch dishes include Ceviche Tacos, Spicy Yellowtail Ceviche, Ahi Poke Bombs and Hawaiian Kanpachi.

Known for its healthier dish alternatives, Pacific Catch’s menu features bowls and salads made with a variety of grains, greens, and protein like the Mexican Grill Seared Guajillo Shrimp Bowl and Vegan Westcoast Style with Grilled Tofu. During the restaurants first six weeks, Pacific Catch will also offer a special menu of signature dishes that contributed to the restaurant group becoming the Bay Area staple that it is today, such as Oysters, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and FishBar Platters.

Pacific Catch’s bar program focuses on fun and festive tiki cocktails with a tropical flair like the Painkiller and Mai Tai, as well as classics with a twist, such as the Guava-rita, Tiki Old Fashioned, and Lemongrass Mojito. Additional drink options include craft and local beers on draft, cans and bottles, wines by the glass, San Diego’s own June Shine hard kombucha and a wide range of non-alcoholic beverages.

A look inside

The interior of the 4,500 square foot space, designed in collaboration with Hatch Design Group, takes inspiration from the California coast to create the bright, modern, and casual restaurant. Design features include ratan light fixtures, plush ocean-blue booths, colorful mosaic tiles, dreamy string lights, and wall murals of tropical plants and wildlife found in the Pacific Rim. The restaurant’s open kitchen, framed by a white tiled wall, allows for guests to view the chefs at work. The restaurant’s spacious layout includes two outdoor patios, a cocktail bar, cozy firepits, and communal tables for larger parties.

Sustainability

Pacific Catch is committed to sustainable partnerships that protect the ocean’s resources, like Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program, James Beard’s Smart Catch and Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants. Additionally, the company is one of the few of its size in the U.S. to have a Director of Sustainability, renowned industry expert Jennifer Bushman, who focuses on Pacific Catch’s continued commitment to the ocean environment, sustainable fish, and seafood sourcing habits. All Pacific Catch locations also offer 100% compostable take-out packaging.

Giving back

In support of Surfrider Foundation, and to continue the longstanding partnership between the two organizations, Pacific Catch’s San Deigo location will hold charity partner days during the restaurant’s pre-opening period, where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation. Post opening, Pacific Catch will regularly implement programming that will raise awareness and fundraise for Surfrider, contributing to their mission to protect and preserve the enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches.
