PEERS Network To Debut Charity Golf And Tennis Tournament To Help Send Kids To College

PEERS Network, a San Diego-based philanthropic organization, today announced its 1st Annual Golf and Tennis Tournament, to be held on Friday, May 21. Hosted at the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club and Spa, the 80’s themed tournament will raise funds for Reality Changers, a local organization that prepares youth to become first-generation college graduates and agents of change in their communities.

Bringing together entrepreneurs and executives through philanthropy

PEERS works to improve the quality-of-life in San Diego by funding local charities, mentoring and hands-on involvement in the community. Since its inception in 2009, the organization has supported over 200 local non-profits and charities through financial support, volunteer efforts and mentorship.

“Our organization was founded on the premise of mentoring and inspiring change throughout the San Diego community,” said Masud Sarwary, President of PEERS. “These core beliefs are just some of the reasons we’re thrilled to partner with Reality Changers this year, an incredible organization that makes college a reality for so many students in our community.”

Helping youth change their narrative

Reality Changers helps many San Diego families achieve their college dreams. Last year, the organization served more than 500 students through tutoring, professional development programs, college readiness training, and mentorship.

“At Reality Changers, we’re proud to work with youth who will be the first in their families to go to college,” said Tamara Craver, CEO of Reality Changers. “We start recruiting in the 8th grade, looking for students who have a GPA of 2.0 or below. We provide support all through high school and then continue to offer services to high school and college graduates. Each student has the opportunity to change their narrative and we’re there with them every step of the way.”

From golf and tennis to a dinner featuring surprise entertainment and a silent auction, attendees can change their reality and head back to the 80s for a night. Companies and individuals can also become a sponsor and take part in PEERS’ 11th Annual Fund Raiser by participating in the following activities:
