Queenstown Public House Transforms Into Life Sized Gingerbread House

Queenstown Public House, a New Zealand-inspired and American fare restaurant located inside a quaint historic craftsman cottage in San Diego’s Little Italy, has transformed into a charming, life-sized gingerbread house to celebrate the holiday season, raise awareness and gather donations for the Little Italy Association’s annual toy drive for the foster children of New Alternatives.

This is the second year in a row that Queenstown Public House has created a dazzling holiday wonderland by adorning itself with chocolate kisses, lollipops, festive lights, candy canes and frosting around the windows to spread holiday joy to adults and children alike while bringing attention to this worthy cause.

Anyone who brings an unwrapped toy for donation between December 1-20, will receive a gingerbread house kit and is encouraged to enter the kids or adults gingerbread house decorating contest hosted at the restaurant at the close of the toy drive on December 20.

The two-part contest on December 20 will kick off with the “Kid at Heart” gingerbread house decorating party from 7:00pm–10:00pm. The winner of the kids contest will receive tickets to LEGOLAND California and the adult winner will receive a grand prize gift basket.

Our life-size gingerbread house was very well received by the community last year and we’re extremely excited to bring it back this holiday season,” said Queenstown Public House partner, Darren Roach. “We ended up collecting 500 donated toys last year, so this year we’re hoping to double that number.
