Online Voting For The 2019 Orchids & Onions’ People’s Choice Awards Opens, Thursday , Aug. 1
The San Diego Architectural Foundation (SDAF) will open online voting for the Orchids & Onions’ People’s Choice Awards in August to select the 2019 winners. The People’s Choice Awards nominees are determined from Saturday, June 1 through Wednesday, July 31, when the public can comment and share their favorite and least favorite nominated buildings, parks, plazas and more in San Diego County.
Don’t forget to cast your vote
Projects that garner the most online interest on the website and on social media are added to a shortlist for consideration. The San Diego community can then pick their fan-favorites from Thursday, Aug. 1 to Saturday, Aug. 31 by casting their vote on the Orchids & Onions website.
“From now until July 31, we encourage everyone to comment and share their opinions on what they believe are functional and memorable places and spaces and those that are not,” said Laura Warner, Orchids & Onions Program Chair and Architect. “Come August, the public has a chance to handpick the People’s Choice Award winners, so go online and vote!”
The public can vote once per project. Along with the People’s Choice Awards, a group of jurors will tour nominated properties and decide on the official Orchid and Onion winners for the 2019 program. The People’s Choice Orchid and Onion will be announced at the Annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 3.
The 43rd Annual Orchids & Onions is the only interactive, community-based program designed to raise awareness and encourage practical discourse in response to San Diego’s built environment. The program showcases what inspiring architecture and design is and how it makes San Diego a better place to live and work in.
The public can vote for the People’s Choice Awards online at www.orchidsandonions.org. To learn more about the annual Orchids & Onions program, visit www.sdarchitecture.org/program/orchids-onions/.
