Pandas are Back at The San Diego Zoo!

Starting Thursday, August 8, 2024, you can connect with the adorable Yun Chuan and Xin Bao at the San Diego Zoo’s brand-new Panda Ridge. This expansive experience is designed to emulate the mountainous forests of China, immersing you in the natural habitats where these giant pandas thrive.

San Diego Zoo Pandas

There are several ways to see these majestic creatures. On your visit, grab a complimentary Giant Panda Timed Ticket or join the standby line throughout the day. For an exclusive treat, book an advanced reservation for the 60-minute Early Morning with Pandas Walking Tour, available before the Zoo opens.

Meet the Pandas

Yun Chuan: This nearly five-year-old male panda, identifiable by his long, slightly pointed nose, is the son of Zhen Zhen, born in 2007 and the fourth cub born at the San Diego Zoo.

Xin Bao: At almost four years old, Xin Bao, whose name means “precious treasure of prosperity and abundance,” is recognized by her large, round face and big, fluffy ears.

Make it a Staycation!

Two local resorts – Kona Kai San Diego and San Diego Mission Bay Resort – are offering exclusive Zoo packages to celebrate their arrival.

With Labor Day Weekend and San Diego’s prime August-October weather (aka “Local’s Summer”) still ahead, you may want to take advantage of them and turn it into a fun summer staycation!

San Diego Mission Bay Resort

Set alongside the shore, San Diego Mission Bay Resort is the perfect staycation destination for families this summer. The resort’s San Diego Zoo package features two complimentary adult tickets, two Chocolate Truffle Cookies from The Cravory, and a panda stuffed animal,  allowing you to make the most of your zoo trip this summer.

Kona Kai San Diego

Kona Kai launched a new-and-improved San Diego Zoo package with two complimentary zoo tickets, a plush Panda stuffed animal, homemade whoopie pies and waived resort and parking fees! Just a short drive away from the Zoo, the waterfront property also boasts two pools, including its family-friendly Tiki Pool and Bar that specializes in kid-approved snacks, sweet mocktails, and frozen treats. Your fur babies can be treated to a “Pawroma Therapy” massage at its in-house spa, along with a dedicated pet menu and other dog-friendly amenities.
