Switchfoot Bro-Am is Back and Bigger Than Ever

Twenty-two years in, the Switchfoot Bro-Am has earned its place as one of Southern California’s most meaningful annual traditions.

What started as a grassroots local gathering in 2005 has grown into a weekend-long celebration of music, surfing, and community that has raised over $3 million for nonprofits serving unhoused, at-risk, and disadvantaged youth across San Diego County.

Community Gathering at the Switchfoot Bro-Am Beach Fest

Three Ways to Be Part of the Weekend

The festivities get started early with a Pre-Party at Breakers in Encinitas. Live music from Monte Cruisers sets the tone on the patio stage, and ten percent of all proceeds from the morning go directly to Switchfoot Bro-Am.

From there, Benefit Party at Viasat in Carlsbad is an elevated evening of curated food and drinks, live and silent auctions, and intimate Switchfoot performances. A cornerstone of the weekend and worth showing up for.

Closing out the weekend is the Beach Fest at Moonlight Beach – free and family-friendly, with Switchfoot headlining a full day of surf contests, brand activations, and local vendors. The Rob Machado Bro-Junior Contest, Surf Joust Battle, and Adaptive Surf Youth Program all return this year.

The Cause at the Heart of Bro-Am

The 2026 beneficiaries are a strong group – A Step Beyond, Challenged Athletes Foundation, Feeding San Diego, Monarch School, Rady Children’s Hospital, and Save The Music Foundation.

Together they provide programs centered around food security, education, music, art, mentorship, and wellness for local youth who need it most.

Giving Back to the Planet Too

As a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner, Bro-Am brings zero-waste efforts and composting and recycling stations managed by the Bro-Am Green Team to the weekend.

Water refill stations in partnership with the Rob Machado Foundation keep single-use plastics to a minimum – because taking care of the beach is part of the mission too.

See you there!

Music, surfing, community, and a cause worth supporting. Few weekends on the San Diego calendar check as many boxes as Bro-Am.
