The Music Company Turns 3 and Launches a New Series for Women in Music

San Diego’s music scene has a lot going for it, but building a sustainable career here hasn’t always been easy. That’s exactly the problem that The Music Company (TMC) set out to solve three years ago. This month, the Pacific Beach nonprofit is marking that milestone with something worth celebrating.

The Music Company Studio Production

A Nonprofit Built Around Keeping Talent in San Diego

TMC was founded on a straightforward idea: talented musicians, producers, DJs, and engineers shouldn’t have to leave San Diego to find real career opportunities. The organization offers affordable, professional-grade recording studios, rehearsal spaces, and a dedicated DJ studio.

Those aren’t hobbyist setups either. These are professional environments where emerging artists can build their craft and their portfolios without the financial barrier that usually comes with studio time. In 2025 alone, TMC supported 441 artists across more than 1,200 studio bookings.

Introducing Women in Music SD

To mark its third anniversary, TMC is teaming up with GRRRL Music to launch a new monthly series called Women in Music SD. The series focuses on supporting female artists, producers, DJs, and songwriters in the local scene.

The series kicks off in Pacific Beach and will continue on the fourth Thursday of each month throughout 2026. Each gathering is built around real conversations and collaboration. Topics include everything from songwriting and production to artist development, live performance, and navigating the music industry as it stands today.

More Than Just Studio Space

Beyond the studios, TMC has been quietly building out something bigger. Their live production series Beach Break Sessions features full-band performances recorded live in studio – no overdubs. Meanwhile, Audio Espresso captures live DJ sets in the same format.

Since launching, they’ve produced more than 100 live sessions featuring both emerging and established artists across genres. It all adds up to a compelling ecosystem for anyone serious about a music career in San Diego. Importantly, it gives local talent a real way to build visibility right here at home.

See you there!

Women in Music SD is a welcome addition to the local creative community, and if music is your world, this is a series worth following from the start.
