7 Must Attend Events At San Diego Beer Week 2016
It’s time for San Diego Beer Week!
In its 8th year, San Diego Beer Week is a gathering to celebrate one of the region’s most important cultural exports: craft beer. Put on by the San Diego Brewers Guild, the week’s offerings has well over 500 events.
Over the next 10 days, you’ll be treated to some of the most creative and unique ways to drink craft beer. Given no human can go to every single one, we’ve managed to put together a much more “doable” list.
To chart a path through all the hoppy, bitter, sour goodness, here are the seven events we suggest checking out:
1. San Diego Brewers Guild Festival
For about $40, you will have access to live music, thirty-minute beer school classes, and access to over 30 different breweries. With the price of the ticket, you will get a commemorative tasting cup — perfect for the unlimited beer samples.
Location: Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, 1000 North Harbor Drive
Time: Saturday, November 5, 2–5pm
Cost: $40 advance, $50 day of.
2. Modern Times Beer Dinner
The hallmark of Modern Times Beer is that it’s all vegan! You can also see this philosophy at play in their coffee cafe — there’s no animal-based milk in sight. If you love Modern Times and a good meal, you be hard pressed to miss Tim Kalanko, the executive chef at Blue Bridge Hospitality and his pairing of a five-course vegetarian dinner. On the menu expect a golden pineapple-blended IPA with woodfire-roasted Belgian endive, toasted barley with white balsamic and a spiced cauliflower steak with Aurora Red IPA.
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Date: November 7
Location: Mess Hall at Liberty Public Market, 2820 Historic Decatur Road
Price: $65 — Please call ahead.
3. Groundswell Brewing and Andrea’s Truffles Pairing
Beer + Wine + Truffles = “Wine the Heck Not?” at Next Door Craft Beer & Wine Bar.
For those of you out there who can’t handle a whole week of BEER, but perhaps have a spouse who can and will, we have an event for the both of you!
“Wine the Heck Not?” will give you the chance to pair Andrea’s delicious chocolate truffles with beer OR wine.
For only $45, you can indulge in four truffle pairings AND still enjoy all of Next Door’s lineup and tastes from our tap list.Time: 6:30 p.m.
Date: November 9th

4. The New Kids Brewery & Distillery Welcoming Party
The New Kids was designed to highlight some of the newest local breweries and distilleries that our city has to offer in an intimate setting (only 350 guests).
