Where Do World Leaders Dine When They Come to San Diego? Lionfish!

As we all saw yesterday, President Biden flew to San Diego to meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, but what we don’t all know, is that the night before, Sunday, March 12, Sunak and Albanese dined at Lionfish in downtown San Diego.

Sunak and Albanese held an embassy meeting in the upstairs private dining area, which overlooks the main dining room, with 10 other guests at 8:15 PM.

A restaurant fit for world leaders!

It may come as no surprise that visiting world leaders would choose Lionfish, given its location at the Pendry, its beautiful design, and the newly released menu from James Beard Smart Catch Leader, Chef JoJo Ruiz.

So what did they eat?

Rishi Sunak enjoyed a filet mignon, while Anthony Albanese indulged in some fresh-catch salmon whipped up by the one-and-only JoJo Ruiz himself.

Good choices!

See you there!

You don’t have to be a world leader to eat like one at Lionfish. We were there recently to try Chef Ruiz’s new menu, and it was fantastic as usual.

Some of our favorites include the Tuna Toro Tartare, Spicy Grilled Octopus, Wild Mushroom and Potato Gnocchi, and (surprise!) the Truffle Fried Chicken and Waffles.

Lionfish restaurant is located at 435 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101.

See you there, San Diego!
