“Clowning Around” Kicks Off Write Out Loud’s 18th Season

Get ready to have your funny bones tickled, and your minds expanded. Write Out Loud is back with their 18th season, and they’re kicking things off with a real knee-slapper called “Clowning Around.”

This isn’t your average book club. We’re talking about literature coming to life right before your eyes, with pro actors bringing the written word to the stage in a way that’ll have you rolling in the aisles.

Write Out Loud presents Clowning Around

Clowning Around Brings Literary Humor to Life

Imagine a bunch of San Diego‘s finest actors, including local faves like Rachael VanWormer, Monique Gaffney, and Linda Libby, taking on stories that’ll have you in stitches. And let’s not forget the dynamic duo behind it all, Walter Ritter and Veronica Murphy, who’ve been cooking up these literary feasts for nearly two decades.

Veronica Murphy, the brains behind the operation, is pumped about this season opener. She’s all about bringing people together through laughter, and you can bet there’s gonna be plenty of that to go around.

A Season of Stories to Tickle Your Fancy

“Clowning Around” is just the appetizer in this six-course meal of storytelling goodness. We’re talking about a whole season that’ll take you from belly laughs to heartwarming tales, with stops at holiday classics and stories that’ll make you proud to be an American.

Here’s a little taste of what’s coming up after the laughs die down:

  • “Let Freedom Ring” on October 14 for some patriotic feels
  • “Miracle on 34th Street” on December 16 to get you in the holiday spirit
  • “Open Your Heart” on February 17 for all you lovebirds out there
  • “A New Home” on April 28 for tales of far-off lands
  • “The Tie That Binds” on June 16 to wrap it all up with some family vibes

Now, here’s the deal. You can catch these shows one at a time for 25 bucks a pop (22 if you’re military or a senior), or you can be a smarty pants and snag a season ticket for just 120 smackers. That’s six nights of mind-blowing storytelling for the price of, well, less than six nights.

See you there!

The curtain goes up on “Clowning Around” on September 23 at 7 PM at the Old Town Theatre. It’s gonna be a hoot and a half, and you don’t want to miss it.

Grab your Write Out Loud show tickets here.

See you there, San Diego!
