Yappy Hours Return to Margaritaville San Diego With Rooftop Fun

Thursday afternoon, rooftop in the Gaslamp, cold drink in hand, your dog trotting around in a lei and sunglasses while a dozen other equally well-dressed dogs do the same thing.

That’s the scene at Margaritaville Hotel San Diego’s Yappy Hours, a monthly rooftop series running through October at the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar, where four-legged companions aren’t just tolerated, they’re the whole point.

Rooftop Views, Cold Drinks, and Very Good Dogs

Margaritaville Hotel San Diego is bringing back its Yappy Hours series at the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Rooftop, and this summer’s lineup runs monthly through October. For dog owners looking for a reason to spend a Thursday afternoon somewhere with a view, this is it.

The rooftop is already one of downtown’s better spots for a drink in the sun. Add a dog-friendly atmosphere and a dedicated pup menu, and it becomes something worth putting on the rotation.

June Theme: Paws & Relax

The series kicks off with a “Paws & Relax” theme, and the dress code very much applies to the dogs. Think leis, sunglasses, and full island energy. Each attending pup will head home with a summer-themed bandana and a Margaritaville tennis ball – easily one of the better event parting gifts we’ve come across.

For the humans, it’s a chance to catch some sun on one of the Gaslamp Quarter’s best rooftop decks while your dog soaks up the attention they absolutely deserve.

A Menu Just for the Pups

The dogs aren’t just along for the ride. There’s a dedicated doggy menu featuring Pupa Coladas – a coconut purée and ice blend – and Bark Burgers, made from a grilled beef patty. It’s a thoughtful touch that puts this event in a different category from your average “dogs welcome” situation.

New Themes All Summer Long

Each month through October brings a fresh theme, so the series stays interesting whether you come once or build it into your summer plans. It’s a solid monthly excuse to get outside, hit a great rooftop, and spend some quality time with your dog surrounded by other people doing exactly the same thing.

See you there!

Round up your pup, dress them for the island occasion, and head downtown for an afternoon of rooftop sunshine, cold drinks, and happy dogs.
