CicloSDias Returns For Day Of Celebrating Open Streets And The Joys Of Movement
CicloSDias, San Diego County Bicycle Coalition’s celebration of open streets and the joys of movement, makes its big return to San Diego streets this Nov. 7.
For one day only, nearly three miles of city streets in Pacific Beach will be closed to cars but open to anyone who wants to bike, walk, stroll, roll or skate along San Diego’s beach community.

Reimagine and celebrate
CicloSDias and other Open Street events invite communities to reimagine and celebrate the diverse character of their neighborhoods in a way that can’t be done from inside a car. Since 2013, the first year CicloSDias was held, thousands of San Diegans have taken to the streets to celebrate throughout many San Diego neighborhoods.
“CicloSDias, above all else, is a celebration of people and mobility in San Diego,” said Andy Hanshaw, executive director of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. “CicloSDias is an event for everyone to rediscover their neighborhood, support local business and to rediscover the joys of seeing the sights of our city and Pacific Beach, even if just for a day, outside of a car. We’re thrilled to bring CicloSDias back to encourage community exploration in a safe and healthy setting.”
While exploring Pacific Beach, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy various activities including bike rides, a free concert, and a meet-and-greet with NBA star and cycling advocate, Bill Walton. The open street route will include a chance to preview the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition’s Diamond Street Playground on the Diamond Street Slow Street from Mission Boulevard to Haines Street.
For a good cause
“Bike for Humanity is proud to support CicloSDias and open streets,” said Bill Walton, Basketball Hall of Famer and Bike for Humanity co-founder. “When we all have a chance to explore our streets safely, our communities thrive as a result.”
CicloSDias is a partnership between the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, Beautiful PB, Bike for Humanity, SANDAG, Discover PB, Superpedestrian and Veo. Proceeds from the event will support other Bicycle Coalition and Bike for Humanity programs, including Free Bikes 4 Kidz. Donations for Free Bikes 4 Kidz, including an opportunity to learn more about the program, will be accepted during CicloSDias.
This will be a fun way to explore Pacific Beach while getting some exercise!
