Watch a Forgotten Chapter of American History With Foundation for Women Warriors
Local nonprofit Foundation for Women Warriors is hosting a free online screening of The Hello Girls – a documentary that tells one of the most overlooked stories in American military history. It’s free to watch and open to all.

Meet the Women Who Were Erased From History
In 1918, the U.S. Army Signal Corps sent 223 women to France as telephone operators to help win the Great War. These women swore Army oaths, wore uniforms, held rank, and were subject to military justice.
By the war’s end, they had connected over 26 million calls and were personally recognized by General John J. Pershing for their service.
When they returned home, the U.S. government told them they were never soldiers.
The Hello Girls brings their story to life through rare 100-year-old film footage from the National Archives and never-before-seen photographs from family archives.
It’s the kind of documentary that leaves you wondering how this story isn’t more widely known – and grateful that someone finally told it properly.

The Work That Goes Beyond the Screen
Foundation for Women Warriors exists to serve women veterans and their children, providing programs that enhance personal and economic well-being and support the growing population of military women making the transition to civilian life.
Their mission is straightforward: make sure the next chapter is as clear and impactful as the one that came before it. Hosting The Hello Girls feels like a natural extension of that work.
