San Diego Staycation: Romance Month at Rancho Bernardo Inn

Rancho Bernardo Inn is going all-in on Romance Month this February, turning Valentine’s Day into a month-long celebration with elevated dining, spa indulgences, and staycation packages.

If you’re looking for a local escape that feels like you’ve actually left town, this is one of the better options – especially if you’d rather skip the crowds and enjoy something a little more low-key than the usual Valentine’s Day rush.

Valentine’s Day Dining Options

The inn is offering a Romantic Prix Fixe Dinner throughout most of February (February 3 to 28), with a three-course menu for $79 or a four-course experience for $89. You can add premium beef selections or seafood towers if you want to go bigger.

Valentine’s Weekend itself (February 13-14) gets an exclusive four-course prix fixe designed for sharing at $120 per person, with an optional sommelier-selected champagne pairing for $65. It’s the kind of meal where you can relax and enjoy the experience rather than feeling rushed through a packed dining room.

AVANT Chocolate Week

From February 10 to 14, AVANT is hosting Chocolate Week – a full showcase of chocolate artistry featuring an edible sculpture centerpiece, chocolate-inspired cocktails, and house-made truffles paired for sipping and savoring.

If you’re into chocolate (and who isn’t?), this is worth planning around. It’s not just dessert – it’s a whole experience built around one of the best parts of Valentine’s season.

Staycation Packages for the Whole Month

Rancho Bernardo Inn is offering three Romance Month packages throughout February. The Romance Package includes champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to your room, with premium champagne upgrades available.

The Suite Romance Offer gets you spacious suite accommodations with a $100 resort credit, welcome amenity, cozy blanket, complimentary self-parking, and waived resort fee.

The Wrapped in Love Offer includes up to 20% off room accommodations, a plush blanket, and a Chocolate + Champagne Experience.

All three give you different ways to lean into the staycation vibe without breaking the bank.

Relaxing Spa Specials

The Romance Couples Quench Massage is a 50-minute side-by-side couples massage featuring deeply hydrating organic shea butter, probiotics, lotus, passionflower, and biodynamically grown flower essences. Each couple gets a curated mini love ritual gift with a Bath Truffle and cashmere body oil to take home.

There’s also an In-Room Romance Ritual by ZENTS – an indulgent in-room bathtime experience with fragrant petals, Epsom salt, and arnica, followed by an ageless aloe moisture wash and age-defying probiotic body lotion. You get a full-size collection of ZENTS products to take with you, which is a nice touch.

A Local Escape That Feels Like You’ve Left

Rancho Bernardo Inn knows how to do a staycation right – it’s close enough to feel convenient but far enough removed that you’re not just staying at a hotel down the street. The spa, the dining, the packages – it all adds up to an experience that feels thoughtfully put together.
