Here’s What You Can Rent For $5,000 In 7 San Diego Neighborhoods

Everyone knows that San Diego rent prices can be a tad ridiculous, but if you have some extra dough burning a whole in your pocket and want to live it up in San Diego you can find some amazing rental properties for $5,000 per month.

From ultra-modern skyscraper condos downtown to ocean view homes in many coastal communities, there’s a lot of variety to choose from. As is usual in San Diego, the further from the city center and the beach, the more house you can get for your money. Of course, the trade-off is often a longer commute to work and play.

Here’s a look at what $5,000 will rent you in seven neighborhoods throughout San Diego.

1. La Jolla – $4,800

Get a taste of the good life in this gorgeous 2,428 square foot home nestled in the hillside of La Jolla. The three bedroom, three bathroom home features hardwood floors, granite counters, a jacuzzi tub and a built-in barbecue pit.

Oh, and don’t forget the spectacular view from the balcony and master bedroom! Plus, the gated community includes access to two pools, two saunas, a spa, tennis courts and a gym. The rent includes trash and HOA dues.

2. Mission Beach – $4,500

If you’ve ever dreamed of living near the beach, this may be the perfect house for you!

It’s just 1,000 square feet, but the Mission Beach location more than makes up for the lack of size. It’s less than a block away from the bay and just a two minute walk across Mission Boulevard to the Pacific. The two bedroom, one bathroom home is outfitted with hardwood floors throughout, a remodeled kitchen with concrete countertops and panoramic doors that offer an indoor/outdoor living space with a huge private patio. The home is furnished and comes with two parking spaces.

3. College Area – $4,900

Located near San Diego State University, this five bedroom, 5.5 bathroom furnished home offers plenty of space and is perfect for students looking to split the rent. A recent remodel gives the 2,100 square foot home a new kitchen with upgraded appliances, including two fridges, and new bathrooms.

There’s also a private backyard with a jacuzzi to help you relieve stress from midterms or finals.

4. Downtown – $4,700

Live in the center of the city in this modern downtown condo. At 1,684 square feet, this two bedroom, two bathroom abode is located on the 14th floor of The Grande South and offers stunning northwestern views of San Diego Bay.

With a den as a possible third bedroom, two underground parking spots and a spacious balcony, this is definitely urban living at its finest.

5. Poway – $4,850

If you don’t mind living away from both the city and the beach, you can get a LOT of house for your money in Poway. This 5,000 square foot home sits on a 1.27 acre lot with gorgeous views of the surrounding hillside. With four bedrooms, an office and a game room, there’s plenty of space for a family and with a four car garage, there’s plenty of room for your automobile collection too. It can even be rented semi-furnished if you wish!

6. Mission Hills – $4,895

This mid-century modern Mission Hills home is a unique find in San Diego.

At 1,900 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, this charming house has vaulted wooden beam ceilings and hardwood floors. Located in the Arroyo Canyon, the home has a large deck to enjoy the views of nature. There’s also a media room, stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and granite counters, and a large pantry.

7. Banker’s Hill – $4,793

At just 1,145 square feet, this two bedroom, two bathroom unit is located in the heart of Banker’s Hill and walking distance to Hillcrest and Balboa Park.

Broadstone Balboa Park offers many attractive amenities that help make up for the smaller apartment size. There’s a rooftop patio with BBQs, firepits, hammocks and, of course, gorgeous views!
