Here’s What You Can Rent For $2,500 In 8 San Diego Neighborhoods

There’s definitely a price to pay for living in America’s Finest City, but what that price will get you in different San Diego neighborhoods varies greatly.

For instance, $2,500 a month can either rent you a small apartment in the heart of the city or a larger, single family home if you venture further away from the city center. From modern complexes and quaint historic homes to beach bungalows and suburban townhomes, you have many options to fit your lifestyle.

We’ll begin our journey with a couple of urban choices that favor the amenities of city life over large floorplans before we spread out to more spacious homes in the surrounding neighborhoods. Of course, if you’re looking for even more room, like at least three bedrooms, you’ll have to head north, east and south of the city.

1. Little Italy – $2,405

At just 561 square feet, this studio at the Broadstone Little Italy may be small but it offers beautiful views of the San Diego Bay, access to a zero edge pool with underwater speakers and a state-of-the-art gym. You’ll also get a gourmet kitchen, marble countertops in the bathroom and lots of high tech features in the unit. Pets are allowed and there’s underground parking available too!

2. Gaslamp – $2,400

Head to the Gaslamp District and you’ll find a one bedroom condo with 792 square feet of living space. The unit includes underground parking, granite countertops in the kitchen and a private, enclosed patio space. Utilities are included in the price and pets are allowed too. Plus, you’ll be walking distance to Petco Park and all the nightlife of the Gaslamp!

3. Normal Heights – $2,450

At nearly 90 years old, this Normal Heights home is bursting with history and charm. It’s just 806 square feet but it features hardwood floors, an upgraded kitchen, laundry and a private patio. The two bedroom, one bathroom property is located just north of Adams Avenue and has easy freeway access to get you to other parts of the city in no time.

4. Ocean Beach – $2,450

Just two blocks away from the beach sits this 980 square foot, two bedroom, one bathroom Ocean Beach home. Newly remodeled with granite countertops and wood floors, the home includes two parking spaces, a large shed for storage and a shared yard with two other properties. No pets are allowed, however.

5. Pacific Beach – $2,450

This charming two bedroom, one bathroom house in Pacific Beach is just blocks away from Mission Bay and a mile away from both the ocean and the entertainment of downtown PB. The 1,000 square foot home includes hardwood floors, on-site laundry, a one car garage and one additional parking spot. If you have a dog, it will surely love the fenced in backyard of this pet friendly property.

6. College Area – $2,400

Perfect for San Diego State University students, this three bedroom single family home is located in a quiet part of town near the College Grove Shopping Center. The 1,100 square foot home features a recently remodeled kitchen and two bathrooms with new flooring, windows, doors, appliances and paint. You’ll also get a garage, covered carport, shaded backyard patio and washer/dryer hookups.

7. Chula Vista – $2,500

On a budget and need more space? Head south to Chula Vista for a three bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, 1,372 square foot townhome.  It includes a walk-in closet in the master, two car garage and access to a community pool. Small pets are allowed for an extra charge.
