Chef Claudette Zepeda x Iron Chef Dish Featured At VAGA
San Diego native and VAGA Chef Consultant Claudette Zepeda makes an exciting appearance as a Challenger Chef on Netflix’s Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, which premiered last Wednesday, June 15.

Competing against Iron Chef Ming Tsai in Episode 5, Chef Claudette Zepeda ultimately wins the challenge with her dish – Mextlapique. Given the secret ingredient of ‘chocolate,’ Chef Zepeda’s flavorful Mextlapique features steamed fish wrapped in corn husk with cacao butter, tomato/onion jam and ancho chile mole.

In celebration of Zepeda’s victory and appearance on the Netflix show, fans and locals who want to taste the winning dish will be able to enjoy it for a limited time at VAGA starting June 24 – July 4 with a portion of the proceeds going to MAKE Projects, a local organization that Chef Claudette Zepeda supports to provide employment opportunities for low-income refugee and immigrant women and youth.
