Camarada Presents The Essence Of Tango

Camarada presents The Essence of Tango, a powerful journey of tango through time, February 4th at The Conrad – a perfect way to kick off the month of romance!

Tango is at its roots a sensuous, rhythmic, and passionate mix of urban culture forged with the influence of immigrant history. Over time this music made its way from the streets of Buenos Aires to the concert halls across the world.

In this performance, Camarada will explore the wide range of tango from the 1900’s all the way to today with the exciting world premiere of “Tango Bajo el Agua” by renowned Argentine Composer-In-Residence Andrés Martín.

The Essence of Tango is a curated time-travel experience filled with music, dancing and singing, highlighting several famous tango composers, including the unequivocal Astor Piazzolla.

  • Gregorio González, baritone
  • Beth Ross Buckley, flute
  • David Buckley, violin
  • Andrés Martín, bass
  • Dana Burnett, keyboard
  • Carolina Jaurena & Marcelo Mesa, tango dance

The mission of CAMARADA is to enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting phenomenal chamber music concerts, while engaging diverse audiences through visionary and educational programming, featuring living composers, and commissioning new music.
