Pacific Beachfest Celebrates 26 Years of Beach Town Vibes
Pacific Beach is throwing its biggest party of the year, and after 26 years, they’ve pretty much perfected the formula for a beach festival that works for everyone. Pacific Beachfest brings together running, fish tacos, live music, local shopping, and kids’ activities into one full day that captures what makes PB feel like its own little world within San Diego.

The Racing Component
The day kicks off with the Inaugural Pacific Beach Half Marathon and the 10th Annual Pacific Beach 5K. Running along the beach might sound romantic until you’re actually doing it, but the atmosphere and scenery make it one of the more enjoyable race experiences in the city.
Plus, finishing a race at a festival means you’ve already earned whatever food and drinks come next.

Fish Taco Contest That Actually Matters
The 16th Annual Best of the Beach Fish Taco Contest lets you be the judge, which is way better than some panel of food critics deciding.
Five restaurants compete, you get five tacos for $20 (genuinely a solid deal), and you vote on who makes the best one. Sampling happens from 11 AM to 2 PM, and tickets are available day-of at the food court.
Fish taco quality is serious business in San Diego, so this contest carries some real weight in the community.

Music, Shopping, and Kids’ Stuff
Three stages of live music keep things energized throughout the day, while over 60 arts and crafts displays and the PB Merchant Sidewalk Sale give you shopping options. The arts and crafts village runs along Garnet and on the boardwalk between Felspar and Garnet, with many local businesses setting up booths.
Kids Action Alley keeps younger ones occupied with beachside rides, free games, and activities. The YMCA is handling this year’s setup with a climbing wall and various activities, while local schools and community groups add their own entertainment on the Community Stage.

See you there!
Some festivals feel manufactured, but this one grew organically from the community it represents. Two decades of refining the format shows—they know what works and what doesn’t.
