Relive the 2000s With The Fray and Dashboard Confessional
The Summer of Light Tour is rolling into Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre in support of The Fray’s latest album, A Light That Waits
The Fray and Dashboard Confessional are sharing the stage for one night – with Colony House opening – for a show built around two of the most emotionally loaded catalogs in 2000s alternative rock.
A New Era for The Fray
Denver’s The Fray built their name on piano-driven rock that managed to feel cinematic and deeply personal in the same breath.
Their 2005 debut How to Save a Life produced two career-defining tracks in “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and the multi-platinum title song, and their 2009 self-titled follow-up debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, powered by the hit “You Found Me.”
After original frontman Isaac Slade’s departure in 2022, co-founder and guitarist Joe King stepped into the lead vocalist role – and the band has kept their momentum going, most recently with A Light That Waits, released earlier this year.

Dashboard Confessional Still Hits Every Emotion
Chris Carrabba’s Dashboard Confessional is one of those projects that doesn’t just bring back memories – it puts us right back inside them.
The Florida-based band became a defining force of third-wave emo and indie rock, building a devoted following with albums full of raw, confessional writing that gave voice to things we didn’t always know how to say ourselves.
“Screaming Infidelities,” “Hands Down,” and “Vindicated” – the latter from the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack – are crowd moments in the truest sense. Their most recent full-length, All the Truth That I Can Tell, shows Carrabba still writing with that same emotional honesty.
