Gather for a Night of Memory and Tradition at the Toro Nagashi Festival!
Get ready for an enchanting evening filled with Japanese culture and tradition at the Toro Nagashi Festival, held in the serene ambiance of the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum.
Floating Lantern Tradition
A highlight of the Toro Nagashi Festival is the touching custom of floating lanterns to remember and honor those who have passed away.
As twilight sets in, the lower garden stream becomes aglow with the warm light of floating lanterns adorned with LED candles. You’re invited to participate and send your wishes of peace and love to your dearly departed.
Starting at 10 AM on Friday, August 9, a limited number of lanterns will be available for purchase at the festival to decorate the lower garden’s Inamori Pavilion. Lantern presale is available here.
See you there!
In addition to the +9 merchant booths, the festival includes a wide variety of performances in the Inamori Pavilion. There will also be food vendors in the lower garden and a beer and sake garden in the upper garden Exhibit Hall.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the magic of the Toro Nagashi Festival in one of San Diego‘s most beautiful settings.
