Verbatim Books is Taking Reading Outside – and it’s Free
One of North Park’s favorite community traditions is back for its third year, and it’s exactly the kind of evening San Diego was made for. Verbatim Books’ In the Park Til Dark is a monthly outdoor gathering at Bird Park where the whole idea is beautifully simple: bring a blanket, bring a snack, bring whatever you’re currently reading, and enjoy the evening.

How the Evening Flows
The format is loose and easygoing. Settle in, find your spot, grab some food, and meet whoever ends up next to you. Then comes an hour of silent reading – no agenda, no program, just people getting lost in their books together in the open air. As the sun starts to drop, Bird Park delivers one of the better sunset views in North Park to wrap things up.
Bring the Whole Crew
All ages are welcome, dogs included. Pack a blanket or a folding chair, bring dinner or snacks, and show up with your current read. It runs every third Thursday of the month through September, so there are plenty of chances to make it out if you miss the first one.

See you there!
Free, dog-friendly, and open to all – this is North Park community life at its best. Come for the books, stay for the sunset.
