Wild Weekend: Amazonia at San Diego Zoo for Earth Day

Andean bears, jaguars, leafcutter ants, and giant river otters are just some of the fascinating wildlife found within the Amazon basin.

Hugging the equator and extending across nine countries, Amazonia is the world’s largest tropical rainforest—and home to some of the world’s most endangered wildlife and vanishing resources.

Often called “the lungs of the planet,” the Amazon rainforest absorbs a vast quantity of carbon dioxide and exchanges it for oxygen, playing a crucial role in stabilizing climate worldwide. Securing its future is vital for all of us.

See the full schedule for Wild Weekend: Amazonia here. Learn more about San Diego Zoo through their website here and follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for updates.

See you there, San Diego!
