Exploring the Ocean Through Art and Science

For over two decades, the Perspectives Lecture Series has engaged the public with groundbreaking research from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

The 2025 series will spotlight Indigenous science, artistic interpretation, and marine research, featuring discussions with contemporary artists and scientists whose work is shaping how we perceive the ocean.

The series kicks off with Superradiance. Embodying Earth., an immersive video and sound installation by artists Memo Akten and Katie Peyton Hofstadter.

This multiscreen exhibit, inspired by conversations with Scripps researchers, weaves together dance, poetry, music, and AI-generated imagery to illustrate the intricate connections between land, ocean, and atmosphere.
