False Idol Unveils a Bold New Cocktail Menu

False Idol’s new cocktail menu has arrived, bringing a fresh wave of inventive tiki creations to San Diego’s tiki temple. After more than a year in development, this revamped menu blends classic tiki traditions with bold, unexpected flavors—redefining what a tropical cocktail can be.

A New Era of Tiki Innovation

Crafted by CH Projects’ Beverage Directors Anthony Schmidt and Alicia Perry, alongside False Idol bartenders Hillary “Bill” Hestead and Lamar Kumangai, the new menu is both a tribute to the past and a daring step forward. Some drinks even come straight up without garnish—an unheard-of move in tiki culture.

The menu is divided into five sections:

  • Classics – Timeless tiki staples
  • Navigator’s Niche – Elevated classics made with reserve rums
  • False Idol Originals – New, boundary-pushing tiki cocktails
  • Punchbowls – Large-format cocktails for sharing
  • Safe Harbor – Zero-proof drinks packed with tropical flavor

Standout Sips

The False Idol Originals introduce bold new ingredients like pandan, mango sticky rice, and Mexican rums. Must-try highlights include:

  • Wayfinder – A dazzling blue blend of citrus, almond, cream, gen mai cha, pandan, and a rum trio from Haiti, Jamaica, and Barbados
  • Chunky Dunk – A creamy banana daiquiri with a touch of sherry, served straight up
  • Malambo – A Thai-inspired mix of lime, coconut, mango, pandan, pisco, cachaça, and rum

With 35+ pages of custom illustrations by Dane Danner, the menu is part cocktail guide, tiki history book, and graphic novel all in one.

See you there!

The False Idol new cocktail menu is available now at San Diego’s tiki temple, open seven days a week:

📅 Sunday–Thursday, 5 PM–1 AM | Friday & Saturday, 5 PM–2 AM
