Urban Kitchen Group Introduces New Chefs and Seasonal Dinner at The Kitchen at MCASD
The Kitchen at MCASD in La Jolla is ushering in a fresh chapter with the addition of two powerhouse chefs and the return of its highly anticipated seasonal dinner service.
Urban Kitchen Group restaurateurs Tracy Borkum and Tim Kolanko have tapped Wesley Johnson as Regional Executive Chef and Sofia Garcia as Executive Regional Pastry Chef to bring bold, seasonal flavors to this quintessential San Diego dining experience.
Starting March 20, the dinner service will highlight peak-season ingredients and coastal Mediterranean flavors.

A Seasonal Menu Rooted in Community and Flavor
Set against the stunning ocean backdrop of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the new menu leans into Chef Johnson’s vegetable-forward approach, celebrating California’s bounty through a communal dining experience.
Standout dishes include:
- Hamachi crudo with avocado and tomatillo
- Broccoli tahini with red chermoula and pickled golden raisins
- Braised New Zealand lamb shank with Japanese turnip, peas, and chard
- Grilled asparagus with whipped feta and black radish
