Omni La Costa and Omni San Diego Bring Back Blitzen’s Bar for the Holidays

Two of San Diego County‘s most recognizable Omni properties are going all-in on holiday programming this year, headlined by the return of Blitzen’s Bar at both locations.

These resort-wide celebrations offer the kind of seasonal programming that justifies making plans around them.

Omni La Costa: Full Resort Takeover

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad is making Blitzen’s Bar the centerpiece of a much larger holiday experience that includes themed dining, seasonal spa treatments, festive movie nights, and gingerbread house-making workshops.

With two championship golf courses, eight pools, and an award-winning spa, the resort already has the infrastructure to support extended stays – adding this level of holiday programming makes it worth planning a weekend around.

The sparkling décor transforms the property into something that captures the magic without feeling overdone. They’re positioning this for guests and locals alike, which suggests they’re trying to make it accessible rather than treating it as an exclusive guest-only experience.

That opens it up for day visits or evening drop-ins without requiring an overnight stay.

Omni San Diego: Downtown Holiday Hub

Omni San Diego Hotel at the Ballpark is taking over Ace Porter – the hotel’s signature restaurant – and turning it into what they’re calling a “glittering, tinsel-trimmed winter wonderland.”

The location matters here: you’re steps from Petco Park in the heart of downtown, making it easy to combine with other Gaslamp Quarter activities or a pre-game stop if there’s an event at the ballpark.

Beyond Blitzen’s Bar, the hotel is offering hot chocolate activations in the lobby and exclusive seasonal stays, including the over-the-top Santa’s Landing Suite. That’s the kind of thing that works for families wanting a special experience or adults looking for something festive and a little absurd in the best way.

Why These Matter

Both properties are established names with the resources to actually execute seasonal programming well.

The surrounding programming (spa treatments, movie nights, workshops, suites) creates multiple reasons to visit rather than just one photo-worthy moment.

The staggered launch dates give you two chances to experience the concept in different settings – coastal resort versus urban downtown.

See you there!

Pick your location, mark your calendar, and experience some great holiday programming.
